QUIVER - 2007

now available

"Borders on brilliant." Barbara Anne Taylor

"Galactically dark." Peggy Mitchell

...james michael taylor has a real knack for cutting to the chase with any given lyric...the man is tapped into the knowing voice inside that always has the lowdown on anything and everything, even if it means hearing what he doesn't want to hear, and with the advent of his own evolving sense as a producer of his own material in his own home studio, it would follow that these recordings continue to become higher quality sounding works...in this case, quiver, takes us into the mind of the artist whilst in the throes of extreme personal turmoil...nonetheless, arrangements and attention to detail are evident, and the sonic quality of both voices and instruments seems well thought out....beautiful vocal arrangements abound----cheers to a fine effort in the face of adversity....i'm honored to be asked by the composer for a brief review.....cheers ---- gary ogan/ october 25, 2007

Sometimes something will happen, someone will say something,

we look in the rearview mirror and see something,

we feel a crack or a thump in our body and we know its a whole new game.

Nothing will ever be the same. The road behind us has just disappeared.

Everything we know comes into question and everything we

think we believe is suddenly in a shadow.

The evening of November 10, 2006 my mate of 28 years said to me,

"Two days ago I told Doug that I'm leaving you."

Today, eleven months to the day, she is serving me divorce papers

so she can pursue her dream of living with him.

These are the sounds that I have put together to try to express myself

and reach her in this time of turmoil in our life.

I guess I could call these songs "orphans".

I'm sort of an orphan now my own self so they are all very much on my mind.

I imagined for many years what it must be like to be dumped and here I am.

She said it was like dumping the family dog off at the pound.

I'd say its more like getting dumped off out on another planet.

If writing any of these songs played any part in bringing about the condition I'm in I say, "Curses on them all."

(Except the Jack Hardy song and River of Peace.)

Most people write their autobiography after they live the events.

What a sad prophet I turned out to be. ....October 21, 2007 jmt
